Hey everyone,

Here is another find from my roll of 1958 D Wheat cents.. It has two marks to the rim opposite from each other.. In addition the one side near the right wheat stalk looks like a rim Cud .. there is an additional mark on the obverse side of this spot looks like the rim pushed up.. possible this was done during ejection because of the rim Cud?

Yes, I think it is PMD as well. Not a rim Cud and I am not familiar with ejection damage - but I think they would look more like die gouges.

ok.. I may be crazy .. well likely I'm crazy.. but when I look again at the smaller indention area near the lower end of the left wheat stalk, when I look at it rim side it looks like a clip planchet.. the size of the clip also seems to match up to the size of the Cud or metal chunk across the coin from it... the coin is uncirculated.. so we can probably rule out damage from someone doing this intentionally.. that leaves mint and bank machinery.. there is a substantial chunk of material sitting on the rim, and both the clip looking area and the larger area are both clean cut which I would think would take a ton of force and/or extremely sharp instrument.. would a bank use such a machine in the rolling process? I've been trying to search our videos online about how exactly the minting is done from start to finish to get an idea what could have happened..

So after tons of video watching I am thinking this damage was caused by the feeder to the die press.. would it be a far fetch idea to think the feeder fingers dug into the side of this coin for some reason? perhaps the planchet got stuck because of this metal blob..possible?

I see no evidence that what happened to your coin was prior to the strike. Anything that happens after the strike is damage. In lieu of a witness, it's impossible to know for sure what caused it. If I had to guess I'd say it's an old fuse box cent.
