There are a lot of varieties for that year. The only combination that may be important (if it does actually exist) is the 1982-d Small Date copper cent.
Otherwise, every other combination of composition/date size/mintmark is normal. A lot happened with the cent that year.
Edit: to answer your question, no. A "thick" 2 is indicative of a large date and they were minted in both copper-plated zinc and 95% copper alloy.
