I went crosseyed the other night looking at hundreds of 1998 proof set listings, so I decided to change it up. At the suggestion of others, I started scanning '46-P Walking Liberty halves for the DDR. After about 15-20 minutes, I found this listing:

391777728012

I wish it was in better condition but, I purchased it instantly anyway! Then came the wait to actually receive it hoping I'd get what was pictured...

Received it today:

It's the only doubled die I own and will be holding onto it until I can cherrypick one in better shape.

Anyone care to give it a grade? I'm thinking VG-10.

It's so odd that a coin shop offers one VG silver half dollar to sale. Seems hardly worth a shop's time. How did this one coin get out of bulk silver lots or rolls? How did it escape the melting furnace when silver price was up? You are quite the coin detective!
