Spent a couple of weeks in Europe and picked up a few Roman Coins. Spent time in Italy but the coin dealer I stopped into seemed a little suspect. Picked these up at a coin dealer in Germany that came recommended from some US Military Officers who collected.

My 1st Ancients. Not Great examples but I was just interested in examples.. Hopefully I did ok but the money spent was not much. Interesting holding all that history in my hand...

Good enough for starting a collection !
They are among the most common emperors for the types but an excellent starting point to begin.
They look genuine and it seems you had some good advisors to point you in the right direction.
The Germans (and a few others !) take a dim view of "dealers" who prey on unsuspecting tourists.

Trajan denarius a definite must for people with a military leaning.
The typical map of the Empire usually states "under Trajan".
He had the inclination to expand the previously inviolable borders, annexing Armenia Dacia and Mesopotamia. When his successor Hadrian assumed office he withdrew from Mesopotamia.
Then as now it was a terribly hot and irritating place to deal with !

Second coin is Marcus so you have the Philosopher King covered too.

The first is Gordian III who represents the boy emperors who became common in the third century. Usually a domineering woman/mother named Julia was the real power behind the scenes.

Now you need to get someone nasty to fill out the field.
Elagabalus or Caracalla might fit your budget.
If you want Nero or Caligula the rates tend to go up !

Looks like some nice coins. You should also post pictures of the reverse.

Very nice coins. I had one similar to the Marcus Aurelius but in far worse condition.
