I'm having some doubts over the authenticity of this spade money (Hartill 9.20-25). Anyone more familiar with this era care to take a look?

Hate to break it to you, but those are indeed fakes. Terrible calligraphy, especially on the 500 spade, that 5 (Wu, bottom right character of the second spade) looks like it was made by a toddler instead of an official mint employee. Furthermore, we see the typical electric blue + tan dirt combination often used on fakes, albeit in a slightly more deceptive form with a hint of green added to the mix. The top spade looks a little better, but like the rest is fake. Where did you get these might I ask? Are you able to get a refund? This series of Wang Mang spades (all but the value 1000 and the Huobu) are extremely rare, and I have seen very few genuine ones compared to the amount of fakes. Hope this helps, sorry for the bad news

I appreciate the help. Fortunately, they're part of a collection we're looking into and will not be available for re-sale.
