42-D here as well ... an expected copper date with lots of corrosion based on the OP photo.

Also seeing 1942-D.

I have an "1943" copper (don't recall the mint) that looks a lot closer to a real 1943 date than this one (it's an 1945 with a lucky hit to just the right part of the date).

Agree with 42 also. The loop looks too tight on the last digit to be a 3.
