Hello everyone,

I've joined this forum especially to ask about the 1998 Bank of Korea Mint Set. I found one in the bottom of a box that I bought a year or two ago and I was just wondering what it might be worth?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone might be able to give.

I don't know. I have a few 2016 and 2017 Korean mint sets listed on my ebay store. sotratosfinest. I assume the 1998 would carry a premium over the 2016 and 2017 mint sets. Maybe ~$50?

Thomas!

I happen to see a Korean mint set for sale at the last coin show I attended but I don't remember the exact date.
Sometime in the 90's. The dealer had it priced at $40 if that helps any.

Assuming it is indeed a 1998 mint* set, it is worth a fair bit.

The key is the 1998 500 won coin as only 8000 were struck, all for mint set only.

Price wise, I would say it's worth more than 1000usd.

*Edited to correct it as mint set, not some assembled set

The 1998 BOK mint set (considering that all the coins, particularly that 500 Won coin are in good shape) should fetch around 1,500 KRW in S. Korea. Unfortunately, you won't make that much if you are trying to sell it outside of Korea. Probably around $1,000, IF you can find the collector who really wants one.

A nice find in that box of yours!

Thanks everyone!

Well I have to say $1000 is quite surprising, as a 19 year old student that would be pretty helpful if I can get it!

My general interest is in UK decimal coins so I really had no idea it would be that valuable!
