I was watching this for the last several days and then won the auction today. I usually do not have to up my bid too many times in a this auction, but I did to get this one. It is a scarce coin. There is one example in the CNG archives, and a total of 3 on acsearch including the CNG example. Oh well, that is another historical figure off the list. It is not a problem free coin, but it is still attractive imho. Valens, 364-378 Solidus Nicomedia circa 364-367, AV 20.5mm., 3.93g. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev.
