Hi. I have 3 Ancient Roman coins that I was wondering if anyone could identify for me. I posted these a while ago but wasn't able to have clear enough photos but I was told that the first and third ones are provincal, and that the second one is an ancient counterfit. Could anyone tell what these are and if possible how much they are worth?

Coin 1 looks like it is an ancient counterfeit of a Severus Alexander denarius with obverse legend IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG and reverse legend LIBERALITAS AVG II, which is from a reverse of Elagablus

Coin 2 appears to be an ancient counterfeit, looks fouree (plated) to me, of a denarius of Domitian with a Minerva reverse.

Coin 3. Another ancient imitation. Copying a denarius of Caracalla. The reverse looks like a reverse of his father, Septimius Severus - P M TR P XVIII COS III P P, Neptune standing left, holding trident dolphin, foot on globe

It is not unusual to have types that do not match correctly or even make sense with these ancient counterfeits.

Regards,
Martin

Thanks for the reply.

Just curios, by ancient counterfeit do you mean a modern day counterfeit of an ancient coin, or a counterfeit someone made back in the day. Hopefully that made sense.

Ancient counterfeits were made at the time the originals circulated. A lot of collectors collect these ancient forgeries, and the coins do have some value. I don't collect them myself so I don't know their value.

Thank's for the responses. Does anyone have an idea of their value?
