About a month ago I purchased this PR67Cam 1969S
Just decided to take a closer look at the coin today-

Please look at the S - M/M- its almost completely clogged in the upper portion of the S and also look close at the letters GOD- they seems to be slight doubling.

Since this was graded by PCGS- is it safe to assume the semi-clogged S and slight doubling was/is not important to any extra value of the coin, so it was not listed on the slab, or did the graders miss this?

Opinions welcomed!

Just because a TPG doesn't list a variety doesn't mean the it isn't significant, it just means that they weren't paid to verify a variety. TPG's won't do anything more than they are paid for.

The "GOD" does looked doubled as I can see splits in the top and inside bottom of the G. Does any of the other lettering on the obverse show doubling?

Thanks.

I just looked at a US Proof SET 1969 from the Mint that I have - and the S in the penny is also clogged or at least looks clogged- so either I have 2 semi-clogged M/M's or its normal- but the letters are definitely different- the US mint set shows crisp letters- no doubling at all.

I just took a peek at my 1969 proof set, and the S is nice and clear. I also looked at an AU business strike, and it had a clear S mint mark. Needless to say, I saw no traces of doubling anywhere on my coins.

The "G" in "GOD" is sure intriguing--I hope you have something there!

Here are some more pics of this coin
The first picture is from my 1969 Proof Set- for comparison with the "GOD" - the remaining 7 are the PR67 coin.

The more I look at this coin under my 20X lens- I really don't see much, if any doubling & at best its so minute, its not worth pursuing getting it looked at any further

33.59 KBby any Third Party Grading Services.

Its a nice PR67Graded Proof coin (with a semi filled M/M not annotated on the slab) That's all.

If anyone things they see something from these pictures that I missed, please - comments welcomed.

The 'clogged' mintmark is normal. A lot of them are like that. It's just something on the punch.

The doubling is a form of Machine Doubling common to that era in proof coins. I have seen a lot of cents with this deceptive doubling from 1969-1973.

Thanks for taking a look at it, and confirming my feelings about any doubling.
Appreciate it!
