Hi all,

this particular coin came to me as a complete surprise, attached to the back of a US China Service Ribbon (which would date 1945-1957)from an auction lot of american militaria.

The coin is 32mm in diameter; approx 1mm thick (the edges are worn so might be as much as 1.2mm); and, weighs 3.7g. I can read "kuang tung" for myself but after that I'm struggling. I don't know if it's 14th century or 20th or even if its genuine! I am aware of how many fakes abound and have no provenance.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated. The photos are below and thank you in advance.

Ching dynasty "boo-ciowan" (board of revenue) cash coin. Ching dynasty approx. 1650-1908, upper character lower pix is emporer. This is from memory, if on computer could give more.

Looks like Emporer De Zong (1875 to 1908 AD) to me.

Thanks both for the replies. It's always good to increase my knowledge base and with these pointers I can find out much more ... though I suppose I'll have to keep hunting for the one that I can retire on ;)
