Hello Again,

So I received this 1963A $20 note as change while also picking up a couple bricks of new $1 notes from a local bank.. The teller/manager told me that the person who had turned it in said that it was valuable, but not why .. I don't know if I am missing something on this note, but other than a little bit of age, it looks like a spender to me .. not to mention it is in "not so good" condition .. would be happy to hear all opinions on this one please :) Robert

P.S. If it is nothing, I won't be too disappointed :) One of my two $1 bricks has a nice quad repeater in it.. :) Very excited.. my first one.. :)

Because of the poor condition it's a spender.

If it was in gently circulated to uncirculated condition, then it would have been worth hanging on to?

Yes. You may want to check and see if it is a low run,320,000 or less or if it has special signatures. You could also try flattening it out by putting it inside a book and put heavy weights on it for a few weeks/months.

I have used the website (my currency collection) and looked up star notes.. but couldn't find anywhere on that site to look up regular currency.. can you direct me to where I can look up production runs on regular notes? Thank you.

Spender, not worth the effort to flatten, imho. Print runs can be found in Schwartz and Lindquist's Standard Guide to Small Size U.S. Paper Money, an inexpensive paperback that every rag picker should own - available on Amazon.
