Hello Everyone.

I hope all is well.

I found this 2000 P Nickel in a roll yesterday. It was in much better condition than I am used to seeing in circulation (great tone, shine, and detail), but there are some odd marks on the coin for which I cannot figure out the origin. Also, if you look very close up on the coin, it appears that there are several letters on the coin in odd places. I am sure this will be debunked, but I could swear are the letters "P" and "E" in the area between Jefferson's chin and "In God." I put small black arrows next to them in the first pic, but the arrows may be hard to see. Are the markings just PMD or is something else going on with the coin?

Please let me know your thoughts and thank you in advance for your help.

All those lines in the word GOD are die flow lines which means the coin was made with a worn die.

I don't see the P and E, but I believe you -- I just think that they are also the result of the old worn die.

Yes, an old worn die, or possibly from post strike contact, but definitely not a mint error. If you think about all the multi-millions of nickels there are, if you had the access and the time, you'd have no trouble finding the entire alphabet many times over.

Really appreciate the input, guys. Very educational. My son said that maybe I need to take a break from looking at nickels if I am starting to see matrix code all over them that no one else can see....ha ha
Rest in Peace

Lol you have to see some that are not good first so you'll know what is different. Anything in doubt, just post it here and we'll let you know. Don't spend anything "different", if you hang around here, you'll learn a lot of stuff real fast.
Haha I just remembered a girl that came on here a couple years ago. She posted a nickel with an Angel in the field. I saw it and I knew it was part of the coin. Turned out she had photographed it with way much magnification. Haha We were real close to looking at the atomic structure.
