Greek-Coin?-Any-Idea-What-It-Is?

Thank you for taking the time to read my query.

I assume this is a Greek coin from the lettering but I cannot read Greek. The edges are very rough. The bottom of the coin has been flattened, so that it is not circular and it is thicker at that point. Roughly 2mm thick in general and 3mm at the thickest. It is about 19mm wide by 17mm high (so, presumably, 19mm originally). I only have kitchen scales, but they supposedly are accurate to 1g, and I weighed it a number of times. Results varied from 6 to 8g, so roughly 7g in weight. General impression is that it is quite 'chunky' and heavy for a coin of its size.

I believe it is Roman due to the head wear on the portrait, besides that I know nothing more.

Maximian potin tetradrachm from Alexandria.

Reverse is Tyche holding a rudder and cornucopia; L-H stands for Year 8; 293-294 AD.

@artwwweb, welcome to CCF. That is quite a hefty coin you have there.

Thank you all for your responses, Finn235 especially. I didn't dare hope that it was that exciting! I'm in the UK and this coin was in my father's 'odds and ends' drawer. He died a few years ago, but he could well have found it when digging in his garden, which is only about 4 miles from a Roman Villa site of the right era. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Littl..._Roman_Villa
