Is anybody familiar with 1964 SMS coins as a set. I have seen that this coin in the 1964 SMS set has a Type A Reverse. Wanted to know if this would be a Type A? Thank you!

I can only comment with a question: what exactly is a Type A reverse?

Never mind, I looked it up. Hope this helps; you have the coin in hand, so you can look closer.

And it looks like a type B (proof) to me.

It is a normal Type B reverse as intended for proof coins.

Looks like the 1964 SMS quarter has the type 'A' reverse:

Note the weak tail feathers. The weak arrowheads. Not the 1965 Reverse.

The one you have looks like the proof type b reverse easiest way is to look at the leaf above the A in dollAr the leaf touches the top of the a and is very easy to see due to a deeper recess of the die. Not an sms, but a great fund none the less

They type 'A' is the common one for the 1956-1964 quarters.
