Oh wow, I understand there was a recent break-in, I wonder if that was the breaking point.

I did not see anything in the news about a recent break-in... but I know Willard is pushing close to 80 years old now. I hope I retire well before that age!!

Bill - that would be Willard and his partners (Scott is a partner, not sure about Doug). His other partner, Robert, pulled out a few years ago...

I made a few minor purchases there when I lived in Brampton, maybe 10 years ago.
Sad to see they closed.

I wonder what will happen to the quarterly coin show that they run.... I went to that show pretty faithfully as it was the closest to me and I hate driving in GTA traffic to get to shows further away.

I noticed that as well. The opening bids for the jewelry are sky high, there isn't much of a market for the native artwork (he did a lot of work when he lived on the streets of Vancouver), bullion went for spot prices, and a lot of stuff didn't meet reserve (passed).

I wonder if that's a rare issue strap of STAR notes in that $1000 brick!

Quote: I wonder if that's a rare issue strap of STAR notes in that $1000 brick! Doubt it. They're easy to spot as Bundles of Star Notes have Zebra striped bordered bands rather than solid coloured bordered bands. Technically B&W doesn't run the show, the Rotary Club which Willard is part of runs it. It was just free advertising for B&W while he is involved. I'd expect the show to continue operating as usual

The action for the store is over. Did anyone buy anything? http://www.icollector.com/Coin-Stor...a31558?m=allThe only problem is Auction Network does not disclose winning bids. I wonder why they don't do so when most auction houses disclose winning bids. I never bid from Auction Network and refuse to do so because of this policy. As for the auction itself, there seem to be few high quality items, nothing like 1948 dollars or high grade coins/banknotes. Maybe the better quality items were cherry picked from the store. When it came to the artwork, I doubt the items came from the store itself. Most of them were prints and lithographs that appear in every Auction Network auctions which they seem to have daily.

I bought one item.... I wish that I could've picked up a few more to save on shipping costs but none of my other bids came through. C'est la vie!
With respect to the "art" yes that's very common for the auction network to have that stuff in their auctions..... and while much of their stuff says that it sells ... you see the same stuff over and over again in a lot of their auctions.

There was one 1948 dollar in with a lot of five other silver dollars, unfortunately there was no good picture of the obverse. I did bid on five lots of 25 SMLs but lost out in the live auction. The online bidding system is badly flawed with bid increments set at $5, with live bidding having smaller increments. I did pick up a nice ring for my wife who was OK with me bidding on 125 SMLs.

It is too bad they used that group, I do not bid on their auction's and really don't like how they price their lots ($ x #units).
