Hi everyone,

I purchased the set "2017 Special Edition Pure Silver Proof Set - CANADA 150: Our Home and Native Land" from Canadian Coin & Currency (already sold out on mint.ca).

I just received it today. After I opened the package, I saw a yellow spot on the proof dollar:

Does this hurt coin value? Should I return this set?

As per picture - looks like inaccurate applying of the gilding, so the "extra gold" appears near the rim as spot.

I would return this, if it really 'jumps to the eye'

I would agree with Silveroid that the defect is really apparent.

Try to talk to a customer rep. This is a sold out set so I understand your dilemma. You may not get a replacement.

One option: return to get your money back. Wait 6-12 months and buy brand new on ebay @ 10-20% off issue price. 20,000 sets were minted so you'll likely come across a deal soon enough.

Thank you all for your kind suggestions. I decided to return the item. Canadian Coin & Currency requires a customer to contact them before returning an item, so I just sent an email to them.
