I noticed this 1971-D LMC because of the Die Break on the reverse columns. Then noticed that the obverse is looking like a possible DDO, there is only 1 DDO listed (from what I could find) but it does not exactly match. Is this an earlier or later die stage? Or not even a DDO altogether?

Looks like MD to me. The devices are smaller especially noticeable on "LIBERTY". See what the experts have to say. I'm wrong a lot.

Comparing to coppercoins single DDO listing, MM location suggests a different die. So don't waste time comparing to it.

It seems to be MD in the current images. Also wanted to add MD can occur on a DD, but not in this case. Thanks, Doug.

I agree, it is a Machine Doubling, but still an interesting mint error.
Rest in Peace

MD, the devices are normal size, rounding effect instead of shelf-like is because of die wear, no longer are the device edges sharp and clear.

Update; This coin found its very own spot on the pages of COC as a new listing for a "Spiked Head" die crack. Thanks again for all your help and feedback! SKH-1c-1971D-07
