All of the coins shown in this lot have been cleaned and are re-toning with unnatural colors.

Vf-25 cleaned, obvious hairlines and unnatural toning Not trying to burst your bubble but I hope you realized these coins were cleaned and paid according, these coins are not worth anywhere near the 150$ on the 2x2s, unless you enjoy problem coins I would strongly suggest learning what original surfaces look like on a 200 year old silver coin. Original coins in honestly Circulated grades Xf and lower will not be shiny and rainbow colored, sometimes TPGs let some early coins get by with old light cleanings but I would not call any of those lightly cleaned. To me these coins would be worth $35-40$ each tops, hope you aren't in them anywhere close to the $150 range  . Good luck with future raw bust half buys

From what I've notcied bust halves are weird when it comes to wear and toning. the high spots where the coin is worn usually look a bit brighter than the rest of the coin to me, and they seem to get really muted dark but colourful toning. I think that this coin in particular half might have original surfaces, but id like to see a photo out of the 2x2.

I agree. If I didn't have these coins in hand, I would be very worried about the warnings from the community. Fortunately I have a library of graded toned coins in my collection that I pull out and reference. XF and AU coins in this series tone with a combination of blue, black, orange, gold and red overtones. Producing a type of bulls-eye toning that spares the central devices from the darker spectrum of the rainbow. With XF and higher, you almost have to see the coin in-hand to examine the luster. IF you can see cartwheel luster on the edges of the devices (normally the stars) you can determine that the coins is xf or higher. It's the strikes issues that make the series a headache for coin graders. But the truth is most of the series is in it's 'second skin'. The entire serious has been dipped or cleaned at one point or another. Hence the designation 'improperly cleaned'. From what I have seen only the most atrocious cleaning jobs render that designation. Because they're so old, tpgs consider it as market acceptable. I do not see any obvious cleaning hairlines on any of these coins. I suspect its a combination of my lousy photography skills, the lighting, and the plastic covering the coins that make it look so. Now that I see the pictures on this forum, I can see how folks here would make a case that the last two graded examples are cleaned based on hairlines they see. It's my photos. Lousy photos.

VF-30 details, cleaned. It has album toning but to me this one was cleaned at some point.
