NGC Licenses Official Red Book Logo For Labels; Ken Bressett To Autograph

NGC - NGC has obtained the Official Red Book logo for an upcoming label series featuring the signature of Ken Bressett.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) has announced that it has licensed the name and cover design of A Guide Book of United States coins, commonly known as the "Red Book," for special certification labels. A limited number of these labels will be individually hand-signed by Kenneth Bressett, the book's editor.



The Official Red Book is the world's best-selling coin collecting guide with more than 24 million copies sold since it was first published in 1946. Published annually by Whitman Publishing, LLC, the Official Red Book is considered to be an essential reference book for anyone with an interest in US coins.

In 1962, Kenneth Bressett was appointed editor of the Official Red Book. He has since become one of the most famous numismatic researchers and writers of all time having published numerous books and articles in his more than 60 years of involvement in the hobby. He continues to serve as the Official Red Book's editor to this day.

Mr. Bressett has received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his significant contributions to the hobby. He was appointed to the US Assay Commission by President Lyndon Johnson and has received the American Numismatic Association's ( ANA) Medal of Merit, its Doctor of Numismatics degree and its Farran Zerbe Award, the organization's highest honor. In 1996, he was inducted into the ANA Hall of Fame.

The NGC Official Red Book certification labels autographed by Mr. Bressett are printed with an eye-catching metallic gold ink that mimics the gold foil on the iconic hardcover edition of the Official Red Book. The new labels have been subjected to accelerated testing to ensure their suitability for long-term preservation.
