Go with the one you like most, that way you still invest and get what you want.
But wait for other members to weigh in

Neither.. In my opinion. When buying less than one ounce the premiums really add up! 1 gr. the premiums will be very very high.

to CCF. First choose the one you like the best. Second factor in which one has the lower mintage.

The money you have available to buy 1 gram of gold will be enough to buy you nearly 2 1/2 ounces of silver.

Or over 2/3 of a tonne of scrap steel.

I agree that the premium per gram for an ounce of gold is much less than the premium per gram for only one gram of gold.

Its not as easy to find sellers of gold here than in Australia or the US. For one, most sellers are already 3rd hand owners of the coins or bars so really the mark up just keeps piling up.

Trying to buy online from foreign reputable sellers, although less expensive would be taxed once they arrive here and goes through customs so it sort of evens up.

That's why we only get the fractional stuff.

I really appreciate all your inputs.

Others are still welcome to comment.

As far as currency appreciation goes, the Panda is likely to appreciate more then the Canadian Maple Leaf IMHO.

!

I would buy neither as an "investment". If you want to collect 1 oz. gold I would buy the Panda.

True story: I was at a coin show this weekend. A gentleman had 4 gold 1 oz. Pandas from the early 90's.
Beautiful coins! But he was going dealer to dealer trying to sell them and was offered time and time again a little above spot because it was just gold bullion to them. Period. Worth spot plus a little.
He was wanting like 2 - 4 grand each for them depending on the year and low mintage numbers.

if you buy bullion with numismatic value in it, you will need to sell it to another collector or on ebay, etc. As debrajc above said, the guy with the panda was only getting spot but probably paid more if they were of older mintages. In order to get the asking price he wanted of 2-4k, he would need to sell it on ebay or other collector sites.

I'm a big fan of fractional but not gram bars........for one they are far too tiny and the premium is too high. I'd rather go for 1/10th oz coins or 1/4th gold.......both are very popular and easy to sell

I agree with everyone, this is not an investment.

Look, pandas are a thing of the past going forward. The mintages are way too high going forward and factor in that they switched to grams and well,, thats not great.

Look around, on ebay dealers STILL are selling gold PANDAS from 2016, to me thats pathetic.

Just buy them because you like their design or find a series that is just starting out with low mintage
