Hello.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

I came across this 2001 D Nickel today. It weighs 4.8 grams and it is definitely a bit smaller and thinner than other nickels.

Anyone have some thoughts on what is going on with this one?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info, guys. Now I feel kind of silly spending 15 minutes searching for "Nickels struck on wrong planchet." I'll just delete my browser history and pretend like it never happened...ha ha.

toyzz, the best part of collecting and searching varieties is the " learning " and expanding our knowledge and there is not a better place to achieve that than here on CCF !there is nothing silly about asking questions and moving forward.

I am thinking not a Dryer Coin, but one that the front edge was ground away to have it fit in a holder showing the reverse.

Like this, but showing the reverse
