Not really sure what's going on here... probably someone being 'creative' with PMD... I've got to work on a coin filming station with proper lighting to get better pics... and because it's such a large area, when I try to get magnified pics it's hard to tell what you're looking at... don't know what else to say besides it's strange and caught my eye.

The coin has been harshly cleaned, but the wheat stalk might be a Greaser.

Possibly a peeled lamination, the C in America looks odd as well. The picture doesn't help so just a guess either lamination peel or struck through, filled die?

I agree with lamination. You can see part of the stalks design under the messed up area.
