Though undecided, I have considered selling off my silver. I just have some questions in regards to that. 1. ebay or a place that buys gold/silver? With the ebay fees I think 10% + PP fees are too much. On the other hand, I feel I might get slighed going the other route. 2. I'm not sure about doing fixed price auction or a regular auction on ebay. Each bullion coin is housed in an air-tite holder which is about a $1 each. 3. If I offered FREE shipping, I could take a big loss. But if I incorporate the shipping cost and air-tites into the price then I may not get any bids.

All of the bullion dealers, mints, refiners buy silver. before going the routes you posted I would try some of the ones on this forum etc. Or try the local coin shops in your area if you have them. they generally pay closer to spot an for some rounds and coins of the assorted realms may even give a slight premium.

ebay buyers of PM's tend to overpay on premiums in general, based upon my years of viewing auctions, so I believe that would cover most or all of the fees and even shipping. Local dealers in my area usually pay 70-80% of spot price.

ebay generally offers free listing charges (or at least when I've listed)... you only pay final fees on what sells. Do a couple of tests with higher prices and see if you get any nibbles or list with high asking price, but open to offers. I've had decent luck this route.

I would say it depends on what type of silver: 90%? Premium silver bullion coins? Straight generic bullion? For 90% I would go the LCS route or a private facebook route. For premium bullion I would go ebay. Straight generic I would avoid ebay as the competition is fierce and the margins are low.

Would you consider adding another alternative?
Posting some of your items for sale on the CCF will most likely net you a better price while providing members with an opportunity as well. Think of it as "keeping it in the family"!

Definitely a lot to consider if and when I decide to sell. Just kinda scoping out my options. I have 28 oz of silver between Silver Eagles, Maple Leafs, Somali Elephats, Philharmonics, and a Libertad and a Britannia...and finally a Kangaroo.

28oz is not a lot.......sell it here and get full asking price vs selling locally and getting spot or on ebay and having to deal with any issues.

If you have other things to sell besides the silver you could try a local auction house.

I would be interested in your silver-why not list it here (CCF)?

A place that buys gold/silver has always worked for me, whether flatware, dental or coins. They're used to settling estates and handle it in any form. You'd be surprised how little you get for hollowware.

I have sold a lot of silver on ebay and here on the CCF. Maybe not so much experience in the 1oz premium bullion coins like you mentioned, but I have figured that selling for cheaper on the CCF will net you about the same or even a little more than going the ebay route, which is about 13-14% fees after everything said and done. Lots of silver buyers here on the forums! Good luck with whatever you decide!

1st off, I would suggest NOT selling your 28 oz of silver unless you really need the money! I would wait till either you REALLY need it, you retire, after or during an SHTF situation, or save it to pass down to your kids! Something to think about when going the ebay route. Have you ever sold anything on ebay? More specifically do you have user feedback from selling stuff on ebay. If you do, great, it will help with selling silver there. If not, you might consider selling some random stuff there so you can build up your seller feedback so when/if the time comes to sell your silver there, you will already have established yourself as a solid seller. LCS gives cash in hand, which can be helpful in a pinch. Do you have a lot of local coin shops (or antique shops, etc.) that will buy precious metals? If so, you can call each one and get an idea of how much they will give you for different types of bullion, silver eagles, maple leafs, etc. You might have be better off selling different bullion to different dealers. That was the case for me when I had to sell my silver. I went to three shops to sell; one to sell 90%/perth mint silver/a couple slabs, another to sell silver eagles, and another to sell other bullion (philharmonics, generic, Brits, and Canadian). There was considerable difference which is why it was worth it to do this. I got above spot for pretty much everything by shopping around. Best of luck!

I sold some gold to a major dealer a week ago for the first time. The process was very smooth and I thought the prices paid for the Eagles was very reasonable. Some post what they will pay for a given item.

I am still on the fence right now. I've been on ebay since the 90's. The fees have gone crazy high since then. Just not sure if I wanna stay in the game. There is a level of risk that I am not sure I want to take on. I'm not in dire need of the money but I could be putting it to good use though. There is much to take into consideration.

With 28ozs I'd try to sell it on CCF first. Group it into a few lots of 5 to 7ozs and it should move fast without extra fees involved. That is what I'd do anyway.
