As I said before it is a very boring coin, I can buy 3 bullion coins for that price! And here where it's made 25miles away they ask $70 USD for it!
Mad mad price......but it is the first year of issue could be I whopper in the future.
I will just hit the ASE and Libertads more bang for your buck

some people like to collect bullion for fun and buy what they like. I agree with you that I would rather get more quantity for my buck but those krugs do look pretty and I see many bullion stackers with a few.

When I saw they were coming out, I had to have one, very little thought or logic involved. It's a coin that collectors have wanted since well before it was even slated for production.

Yep....guilty as charged. In the US the original issue price was $59 but I noticed JM Bullion now has them for $49.
With the high mintage I don't see these appreciating over time sans silver spot rises and falls but I did hear
that this is the "premium uncirculated" version and future years will be more of a regular bullion issue.
Not as nice as this coin and priced closer to the usual $4 or so over spot.
Who knows but I am pleased to own one. It is a very nice coin. Yes, expensive but very nice.

I was able to get 3 of them at the very starting of their release and so when sales were still hot I was able to sell two of them for almost double... so I got my one for about spot price. But then again I sold that one as I am going to stick with cheap silver for a rainy day..

US$46.50 delivered with credit card - lowest price thus far:

I remember the likes of MCM asking US$60 a piece during pre-sale and it's nice to see them drop in price. Once it's down to US$30 I may buy one. :)

I say buy it if you like it and want it in your collection, now clearly, I am of the group that while I enjoy collecting, I do like it to get some premium in the future.

This coin might increase in value over time, seeing its the first in a series, but its no guarantee, what I see against it is those high prices it initially sold at and now prices are dripping lower since its presale (NOT a good sign IMO for future increase in value), the mintage is way too high and why did it take the SA Mint so long to bring their product here? Did I mention I loath it when dealers make exclusive deals mints to market their coins?

Ill take the Rwanda series over this coin any day or say a roll of Koalas with 300,000 max mintage

Kind of "Must have" coin, for being the First year of issue.

But will agree with the previous posters - the design is truly average - we already saw African Springbok silver coin, that resembles almost the same design.

And the price.... CAD 70 for the coin with mintage 1M ?
I really not in rush to get it.

Added:
The "Australian Swan" 1oz coin, I missed only cause didn't want to pay CAD 40 (when it was possible)....such a mistake...but over-hyped Silver Krugerrand imo doesn't go close to the Silver Swan.

I'm guilty of buying one for $60. I think it is a beautiful coin but I only want one as a collector's piece.

It's an exact copy of the gold Krugerrand in silver, as it should be. An unchanging and timeless design introduced in the 1960's and still being used today.
