Bill, that is an interesting piece that you posted. I like the die cracks. Do you also have edge pics?

As it was minted before 1600 AD, I'm recommending to the mods that your thread get moved over to the medieval and ancients section of CCF.

Spence, I disagree with your reasoning for moving this coin to the ancient/medieval coin forum. It's a late 16th century coin struck with a waterwheel powered roller mill and belongs with other early modern coinage.

@Jgenn, I hear what you are saying--feel free to click on the little "report this post to the staff" button and recommend to the mods that they move it back to the modern world coin section. In my my mind, the cutoff of 1600 AD is pretty clear, but perhaps there are extenuating circumstances that would override this stratification.
