I haven't been to my usual banks in a while, first due to all the snow (I walk to one of them), and then my car died, and now I have no more excuses.
Bank number 1 - 11 half dollars (only 4 different dates, however, and of course, no silver). Finding a half dollar alone is hard enough up here in Canada, but to score so many in one shot was kind of nice. They were glad to have me take them off their hands. They also asked if I wanted a bag of 200D Sac's for 1:1, but I'd have no way to cash them in, so I had to turn them down.
Bank number 2 - $18 in face in $1 and $2 notes. The $2 were split between the last two designs. Not usually something I look for specifically, but I wasn't going to pass this chance up.

Hi, Topher, where have you been! Yeah, I had a teller call me a few weeks back, she had some nickel .50 cents, a hundred and forty dollars worth, to be exact. I didn't like to turn them down, as she saves me all the silver that comes in too. Now I got a load of nickel stuff, the tellers tell me that they have to make out a lot of paper work, to send them back to wherever they send them. So they are glad when people like us take them off there hands.

Are the $1 and $2 notes worth more than face? Also what would be the Wheat penny of your pennies and nickels? I find some canadian in rolls here and wondered if I should keep some of the older stuff(ie. george VI nickels and pennies). Jser

SHAFTA9a - My car died, my commute was two hours each way on public transit, and frankly, with the amount of snow we had in Toronto this winter, I didn't get out much in the last 2-3 months! I'd love to get my hands on that many halves! I've got plenty of holes yet to fill, and that's not counting pre-1968! I did manage to get a 2003 half dollar from this same bank last year.
Jser - they aren't worth more than face in circulated condition, unless you have a buyer willing to pay more. It's just that you hardly ever see them anymore. The $1 bill was taken out of circulation over 20 years ago with the introduction of the Loonie, and the $2 bill was taken out over 10 years ago, so in that respect, it was a nice find.

Topher, let me know what you are missing in nickel halves, and maybe we can trade for something.
