I snagged this the other day, and it arrived today.

Grading should be simple, but I'd also like your opinions on which die, etc.

I realized I didn't take any close-ups of the rev top, if that would help, just say the word.

Thanks!

Strange looking date - but may just have taken a hit.

Mark1959; strange in what way? One of the diagnostics of the Die Set #2 No-D is that the second 2 of the date is stronger then the first, and looks a bit different. What are you seeing that makes you think it took a hit?

The back of the 9 and front of the first 2 are a bit flattened.

Crazyb0, yes, same coin. My local dealer put it under the microscope, and said he saw no remnants or indication of a D, nor did he see any monkey business in the MM area. email with full sized jpegs will be on their way momentarily.

Doesn't seem to align with any of the known die pairs. However, it looks legit...I'm stumped.

Agree this is a "weak D", most evident in the first photo.

Very worn coin but, maybe a 'weak' D, not a no D

May be worth a shot at sending it in to ANACS for certification. LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST and the strong reverse look correct for a No D Die 2, but I agree the date isn't quite correct. The second 2 possibly isn't as sharp as it should be, (but the second set of pictures shows it better,) and there might be a hint of a "ghost" D under the date, hard to tell. If it is a die 2 it's a F15 or possibly VF20. Not sure what you paid, but an easy $500 coin holdered if it's a No D die 2.

Thanks edweather, It's going to go to NGC, either when my coin dealer gets back from vacation, or if I decide to join ANA/NGC to submit myself.
