Got a very quick sneak peek at the CP catalogue for July.
Highlights (that I can remember) are:
2oz. Parliament Buildings coin - $179 or $184, can't remember. Mintage of 5,000 This is a glow in the dark coin with full colour and comes with a black light flashlight. It's a full frontal shot of the Parliament building. Just like the moonlight or Canadian outdoors series.
5oz. Clock tower face coin with the hands of the clock being actual metal from the old Parliament buildings roof. It's literally a clock face. Mintage is 1,200 - $549
A canoe coin with laser etching to make the canoe look like real wood (I think that's the effect) Mintage was 4,500 I think and was around $135. Sorry only had a quick look.
3oz. Silver coin - Whispering Maple Leaves with gold plating. This coin is actually gold colour with a bunch of maples leaves and one maple leaf knocked out of the gold plating so it shows silver. Very nice look coin and they're claiming it's the first 3oz. gold plated coin. I actually really like this one. Mintage was 3,500 or 4,000 - $279 or $299. There's a gold one to this as well. 1oz I think price was $2,800 range I think.
Cougar coin in 3D - Just like the humpback whale coin but now it's a cougar. Didn't get a chance to look at price/mintage but I'd expect it's the same as the humpback whale.
Jeweled butterfly coin. Actual stones (I think blue and clear) make up the butterfly. Mintage was 4,000 I think and was around $174. Might look really nice in hand.
I think there was also a concave coin - maybe a cougar? Sorry didn't seem to be anything really exciting.
Bunch of continuation of series stuff like zodiac, military medal, locomotives, en plein air, Canada 150 series.
Overall, not the big Canada 150 release I know I was hoping for.
Few nice coins but nothing really ground breaking. Don't think they've done anything like the jeweled butterfly before but I may be wrong.

Thank you for the summary. I can't wait to see the pictures.
Do you know which of these coins are part of Canada 150 coins?
Also, we have seen many maple leaf coins this year, from Canada 150 Maple Leaf gold & silver to Maple Leaf Forever platinum. I don't get the point of celebrating another maple leaf coin (Whispering Maple Leaves). Is this coin part of "whispering" series or Canada 150?

Naturally, "Maple Leaf" theme rotates on the coins, and each year we see several coins with Maple Leaf like Fractional sets, Maple Leaf Forever $10...etc

Quote: I just received my advanced notice from rep. Posted images in the other forum. Parilament GITD coin missing so must be coming in the later release. It is coming separately because it not a coin that commemorates Parliament but is rather a Canada 150 coin. It is a Canada Day coin to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Canada. It features a picture of Parliament with blue sky above it and jets roaring over it. At the bottom of the coin is a crowd of flag waving people. The GITD feature is fireworks. I believe this is the July coin that people are looking for to commemorate Canada 150.

second enameled 150 silver dollar :-( So close to the last one its hardly worth buying. I would've thought they could come up with a slightly better/different design. I've looked at the Piece Tower coin a dozen times and I cant make up my mind on it. couple questions about it : First - what is the significance of the time 10:08? second- why not make it work? Third - why didn't they at least make the hands move? I cant deside if this will fit in my collection

I just received my advance notice as well and I cannot believe they issued that silver dollar with the 150 logo over AGAIN!
The clock coin is interesting and I guess if one were to place it in one of those small floating frames, it would probably look like a miniature clock that just does not work. LOL
Do not know what to get this month or if to get anything:(((((((

It looks like the new SD is a red enameled version of the coin that was previously available in a selectively gold-plated version in the "Home and Native Land" fine silver proof set and as an unadorned single.
IMO, a third version of the "Home and Native Land" design wasn't necessary and doesn't add much to my SD collection.

Wow! A third of the same design is ridiculous. Added some colour, halved the mintage (20k to 10k) and raised the price ten dollars. Pretty sad. But it will sell out quickly IMO.

It's also disappointing to see yet another square holed $8 Chinese themed coin. 2007, 2016 and now another in 2017. Too much of the same Mint.

It is disappointing, however, it is simply "marketing and selling 101". Nothing wrong with that.

Am I seeing things or is the single slightly different, with a flag a maple leaf flying in the background? I agree, a third version of the SD, yet each so similar, is not necessary.

@wildflower
Yup slight differences in the background for the silver dollar. That is all as well as a $10.00 hike:(((((

Canada's flag was used as the background for the selectively gold-plated version and the standard silver version of this design. I'm not seeing any difference between those and this new SD except for the red enamel...but I may be missing something.
