chesterb Pillar of the Community United States 1261 Posts	Posted 06/18/2017 11:51 pm Does storing coins in an album like the Dansco cause silver and copper coins to darken over time? I'm not talking about the bullseye toning like seen on the Wayte albums but just a darker finish because of not being in an airtight inert holder? I'd like to put some more expensive coins in the album but am afraid the nice color and finish will change. Also I bought an older album a year or two ago but noticed some slots need a makeshift shim to keep the coin in the respective slot. For those with experience with the new album, is this still an issue or did they correct it? Report this Post to the Staff

As they are not air tight, where you keep them is important. Clean air, low humidity, and no wide temperature swings. This will always be a problem for coins that were stuck without a collar, which means the diameter has a wide tolerance. My early copper and Bust coinage are either loose or tight in the factory holes.
