I don't collect coins, but in 1980 upon hearing that the Canadian Mint was going to going to eventually phase out copper, I visited some local banks and picked up rolls of pennies. Some are in the "Loomis" wrappers and look not to have been circulated. Are they worth anything? I also have some rolls that must contain 100% copper pennies.

They have been sitting in a box for 28 years.

IMHO.. I would try cracking it open and sending the really nice ones to PCGS or NGC The book value of a 1980 MS-63 is 5 bucks.. I mean.. its not worth it now. But in the long run if you keep them, it will prevent any toning or corrosion on the nice ones..

You mention some rolls look lke they, "may contain 100% copper". Are they hand wrapped, like we used to see, or they "machine rolled? Have you checked to see what dates might be there, such as wheats, and/or Memorials? Thanks,
Dick
