I was transferring all my LWCs to my new Dansco album and when I got to my 1928-D, it just fell out of the old album as the window was moved. didn't need a push or anything. I placed it in the new album. Same thing. I don't have the means to measure the diameter that precisely, but it obviously has a smaller diameter than normal. I decided to weigh it to see if it was underweight. To my surprise, it was overweight at 3.31g. Next, I knew I needed to do do a specific gravity test to confirm whether it was likely a 95% copper or not. I followed this method http://www.lincolncentsonline.com/C...%20Zinc.html My scale had trouble stabilizing between .37g and .38g for the water dunk on multiple tests. 3.31/0.37=8.95 and 3.31/0.38=8.71. This seems to put it in the range for a copper cent (8.8g/mL).

What do you think? Would you consider this an error? If so, what would you call it?

Lincoln's bust looks a bit strange - just saying. Will wait for others to reply.
Rest in Peace

What is the thickness? It is possibly this is an undersize planchet but with in tolerances for size and weight. It may just be pix, but your coin appears to be "clear-coated". That spot on left wheat ear, can you tell if the area appears to be coming out from under a coating? It may be waxed, or shellac on it(suspect shellac, because of weight, but no more than .05gr?) As to size, possibly an improper cleaning/buffering removed a slight amount of the rim. All just guesswork here tho...?

It is odd given the relatively high grade of the coin.
