I am thinking about buying some large sized bills to carry around in my pocket. So they can not be in great condition but they also can not be in such terrible condition that they will fall apart in my pocket. We already have pocket pieces for coins so I thought why not do some large sized bills. I am thinking of one 1923 $1 and one 1899 $1 and a 1914 $5. I figured I would do these since they are easy and cheap enough to acquire.

What large sized bills would you do.

I will say bad idea. What is the use? Bills fall apart very quickly. One time in the wash, or you spill coffee on your pants, you get the point. Why waste $70?

I would not do any paper as a pocket piece. To "fragile" and likely have to replace every year.

I'm in the "bad idea" camp. If you're going to do a pocket piece, do a coin.

Carry what you like, ckrakowski. If it makes you happy that's all that matters.

You can always do a wallet piece. Fold it up and tuck it into your wallet. If someone sees it, you can play show and tell.

I used to carry a Japanese occupational note in one of my textbooks (and showed it to other people occasionally).
Not sure where it's now, unfortunately (either the note or the textbook).

Would it be your intent to show it around?

I second this idea. I, of course, only do coins in the pocket, but have considered a silver certificate in the wallet as well. There is a bank customer that showed me the couple silver certificates and red seal $2's he keeps in his wallet once. He offered me one, but it would have been un-couth to accept from a customer.
