I'm ready to see some classic, large U.S. currency! Post a large size note that you own here. I'll start off with this 1875 $20.. This is a far scarcer note (Track & Price lists 55 as opposed to 184 Fr. 129's.) for this $20 legal tender type. Circulated examples are particularly hard to track down. Very skillful repair on the upper right corner. That slightly different color is the repair.

Love the portrait of Hamilton on your LT Wheat. I looked for quite some time for a mid-grade Bison. I had saved enough for an XF example, and then this VF beauty came along. I bought it raw from member of a different forum, and he said it had original paper. If you haven't yet, find someone with a raw, large size note and ask to hold it. These older large size notes have an almost magical feel. I don't know if it's the cotton/linen ration of the paper or what, but hold one if you ever get a chance.

Seems like a wonderful example of this iconic issue, which many consider the best design on any large size note.

I have a few, but will post one that will probably be the only one of this particular "town" that will come along. Bloomsburg is the county seat of Columbia County. It also holds the distinction of being the only incorporated town in the state of Pennsylvania. Famous also for the Bloomsburg Fair since 1855. First National bank of Bloomsburg PA National Currency Five Dollars

Nice note, Steve. I have a $10 Bison in similar condition that is raw. I also share your sentiments about holding a raw note and I do pull out a raw large size note from my collection once in a while, just to hold it. Quote: First National bank of Bloomsburg PA National Currency Five Dollars Great note! I'm really liking the signatures.

This note is probably my favorite design on all U.S. Currency. I actually bought this note raw, but upon doing a little bit of looking around I found that the exact note was graded at one point. I'll post the graded example instead because I have no photos of it raw.

Love the look of your $5 Bloomsburg National NickelGuy....low charter number also. Cool Manning note Wheat. The last $20 denomination Silver Certificate ever made. Love the ornate back. Daniel Manning, Secretary of the Treasury, was also featured on the 1886 version of this note. This ACE is our nations first one dollar bill. Featuring Salmon Chase, and Chittenden and Spinner signatures. Bought this from the executive secretary where I worked. One dealer she showed it to offered her $100 for it, so she came to me for my opinion. Now it's mine.

I'm sure most are tired of seeing this, but I always like to show it where appropriate.

I always enjoy low serials on large notes! That serial #5 is no exception. Excellent note. That now will now spark the idea for my next post.

Wow, serial number FIVE! Excellent example Mr.Frog....just an all around great note. If having a portrait of Jackson isn't enough, there's a dog in the central vignette of the note appropriately nicknamed Woodchopper. Mine is a nice mid-grade 1907 $5 LT with honest circulation and original paper. It even retains good color on the red "V" , seal and serial numbers.

Love the Woodchoppers. The were among the longest-lived currency series, printed continuously from 1869 - 1927/28.
