@dorado, as your coin is from the 18th century and in circulated condition, I'm not sure that much needs to be done to preserve it. Certainly you could strip off all those years of toning and expose the bare metal again, but I don't know that you would be so happy with those results. IMHO, for these older coins (excepting those with bronze disease), leaving them alone is probably the best pathway.
