1973 Error Nickel? Or Just A Damaged Nickel?

I found this along with a 1942 D does not seem to be a horizonal D nickel. The 73 looked funny and under closer inspection it looked like a error in stamping?

Looks like a hit in circulation or the crimping fingers from a rolling machine moved the bottom of the 7.

I agree with it taking a hit. The 9 and the 1 also appear to have corresponding damage, as well as the T and Y in Liberty.
