Because it will totally become valuable in the future.

Because some people want to keep their sets current and do not have access to a local coin dealer they will buy stuff like this off of ebay. They may also be a little bit lazy and do not want to do the roll search thingy. $1 is a small price to pay for a little bit of "numismatic gratification"!

This is the "Gotta have it NOW" generation, I just now found my first 2017P cent in circulation, not a purdy one either! Takes this long to show up. Some people bought mint rolls from (XXX?) and now want to flip it. Remember...this IS ebay, where P.T. Barnam's famous saying is proven Daily ("There's a sucker born every minute"). You don't get Mint grade quality from CRHing unless you get a Fed distribution wrapped issue from your Bank rolls... any questions....T-Bop?

If you are living on the west coast and are keeping an uncirculated dime collection up to date, it's probably worth the dollar to get a nice P mint. I've bought the occasional D mint coin if I can't find anyone to trade with me here.

If I'm not mistaken, the minimum price you can list an item on ebay as Buy It Now is $1.00 (for auctions you can list for as low as $0.01) Anyway I don't think the seller is getting much profit out of that price with free-shipping provided after eBay/Paypal fees.

@plusultra! I have bought uncirculated singles for my modern coin albums on ebay before. I don't always want to but an entire second mint set and don't want one out of a roll that has been circulated. But I always use Dave's Coins and Collectibles and have been very happy.

The time it takes to find such a coin is much more valuable to me than a buck.
I hit buy & pay and it's on its way to me.
As opposed to getting bank rolls, searching, hoping to find, returning. Not my thing. My time is worth more to me than that and I've hunted through enough bags, boxes, and rolls to know the expected return is very small.
If CRH is what you do for fun, best of luck to you.
