Well, I can say about Shoppers Drug Mart (Pharmaprix in Quebec) - they received quarters and toomies about four weeks ago as a part of regular change supply though I don't know if they receive it through the local bank or directly through Brinks. I kind of hoped that there should be more of those coins available today (Canada day) in Ottawa but didn't hear anything yet. Have a couple of local friends looking for them for me - will see later.

What I have found out about this area is the store asks the bank for xxx # of $$, the bank than get Brinks to send the the money to the store, so you have to find a store that brinks has delivered new coins to.

Personally, I really like the gitd toonie. However I am not a big fan of the quarter. The toonie seem to be generating some interest with the "non collecting" public.

I was in the Okanagan on holidays recently and none of the banks I checked had any of the toonie rolls which contain the glow in the dark coin. One bank had a coloured toonie in loose change. It seems that whatever amount the mint has put into circulation has been scooped up.

I'm always curious what "economic theory" is behind this notion of minting circulation currency that does not circulate.

I have been checking for weeks and none of the banks have any on hand. I honestly believe that the tellers are taking them as soon as they come in. Every teller knows that they are when I ask for them.

I don't regret buying the overpriced colourful display sets of 2017 clt, but am drawing the line at paying over fv for a roll of bank coins. The reason I draw it at this point is there is no reason I shouldn't be able to find it. I'm not overseas or a shutin. My country, my coins.....makes one think about why we call it "currency" in the first place.
