She's not great but looks a whole lot better than I will at 223 years. Still some decent meat left on her bones

I was going to go VF20 details. I'd be very happy to own a coin like that.

VF(25) - Details

What's going on at the "CE" in cent? Is that a 223 year old fingerprint, and resultant damage, or something else? If it's a fingerprint, it's educational and interesting seeing what a fingerprint does after this many years.

Nice coin. Nice then any of my <1800 LC's!

I grade it VG details (these you really have to grade from the reverse since the obverse was struck in high relief), but PCGS may have said VF details.

Once upon a time, this would have been a nice VG8-VG10 or even F12.
Unfortunately, the rampant corrosion has reduced the net grade down to AG3 in my opinion.

This is a S-26 (R2) -- the strange looking area by the C in CENT is the end result of the large die crack starting at the rim and passing through the first S in states down to the C in CENT -- a large die fault that progresses from slight weakness in the C to near-obliteration. A second large die crack runs through the E in STATES down to the last upper leaf on the wreath's left side.

The early collectors called this variety the "Severed Hair" because repairs to correct die clash marks resulted in part of the lower hair and almost all of the cap pole being polished off the obverse die, leaving the cap floating behind the head.

I don't see any pictures and when I click on the blank square it takes me to a photobucket error page.
