From the same lot as the Crispus:

IMP CAES NERVA TRAIAN AVG, laureate head right
She-wolf crouching left (RIC 694) and right (RIC 692), SC below

At about AE4 size, these are some of the very few quadrans to feature the emperor's bust.

Does anybody know roughly how common or scarce these are? They seem pretty available, but sale prices are a lot higher (~$25) than I would expect.

It is very difficult to say it for this small coins wich circulated a lot . From my own experience , I know I had to pay for quadrans'coins of Claudius between €28 and €52 for EF .
Maybe this article is interesting you . albert

Interesting pair. I wonder if the direction that the wolf faces is indicative of anything. Thanks for posting.

I like this design a lot and have two nice ones in my collection.

So much detail and lettering on such a small coin!

I think the left-facing wolf is a big scarcer than the right-facing type.
