Hi Folks.

For better or worse I purchased this 'coin/token' for my son who collects such things. I personally don't know what to call this and believe it is genuine/old, though in rough shape. I believe the material is pewter.

Does anyone know what this is and when/where it came from?

Thank you for your help!!

@collector1961, first welcome to CCF. Second, what a great piece to post here so close to the 4th of July. It looks like the obv inscription is LIBERTY AND EQUALITY (maybe?) while the rev inscription is DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE SIGNED JULY 4 1776. I cannot find you a specific attribution, but others should be on here soon enough to help out.

The medal is also described under miscellaneous medals (as item 1375) in the book: An arrangement of medals and tokens struck in honor of the presidents of the United States, and of the presidential candidates, from the administration of John Adams to that of Abraham Lincoln, inclusive.
