1963-D Cents. The indent in the field was used as a marker on other year, But I don't see a variety, so that would mean nothing on this coin. Why this happens, I don't think has been explained that I know of. Not sure what is going on with the right roof area? Looks like damage to me?
If you have the same indent on several coins something must have been stuck to the die. If it's not a variety it was probably stuck for a short period of time. Unless you have a better guess? lol
If it were damaged on the die, it should be raised. But this is incuse. So not sure what the experts think this is. I've seen it on some other Memorial coins and it was listed as a marker. ?
Where there's a variety, I'm sure it makes a great marker. The only thing I can think of on Uruman's coins is it was either struck through something stuck on the die or the hub became damaged before making this die. They are all alike, so it happened at the mint, maybe even damaged at the ejection process? Maybe Mike would know?
