I found these two nickels in change within the last year and one of them caught my attention today because of how dark it is. I wiped it off and it is still the same. Even the edges are dark. I took a couple pics of it beside the closest year nickel I have. I know the 43 is a different composition maybe that's why it's like that? What do y'all think?

This is a very common tone on many Jefferson War Nickels.

Because of the cocktail of metals, the mix has the unique priviledge of suffering what our grandmother's used to clean with tarnish remover. Just the chemical reaction of silver, manganese and zinc over its many environments. As others have said, "Now go wash your hands!"

Right, this has simply "tarnished" like any similar mix of silver left uncleaned for a long time.
