Here we go with the very cloudy term "First Strike" again !......That term makes me nervous when sellers put that on stuff for "eye catching strategies" to make better sales......
This can be very misleading.
I would question how they're assessing these coins to give them a differential category from the others as to "how many" were minted as "First Strike" since I don't believe the U.S. Mint has that designation itself !
There isn't a separate "count" for "early minted coins" and then another count for the others minted after this for the same coin.
It's only a question of the first few that are struck on a new planchet that would be clearer, sharper, better surfaces.......but then they change planchets often so.....you could get "First Strike" coins all through the year then too !
WARNING !...CAUTION !...BEWARE !...HSN TECHNIQUES AT WORK HERE !

As I recall, you have to send PCGS the original mint package unopened with the post date shown clearly. If it's within a certain time period after the release, you get the "first strike" designation.

First Strike is a ploy designed to get more money out of you.
The dies are replaced after xx number of coins and so you can have literally have several "first strikes" throughout the minting process, not just the first day these were made.
