Before you yell at me, I did not used the money from selling my type set here to buy this coin. I traded a coin I had $150 in for it. It was priced cheaply ($375), and I wasn't going to have the chance to get another one anytime soon, so....

It is dated 1800, and I see just enough of the die chips to call this one the BB-14 "Dotted Date" variety.

Yeah, that's a coin and "price" you can't easily walk away from, a "no matter what" situation! Lucky you!

It's hard to resist a good pocket piece, especially when no pocket money is involved.

The reverse is pretty nice. It would go well in a belt buckle. You can tell people it's an 1804.

Thanks all!

It is really nice to have such a large, historic coin that no one is afraid to touch and handle (at least I'm not afraid to hold it in my hand).

The only sad part is that I got used to having a high-grade fake in my set.

Not an expert on authenticity ... looks good from here ... and offering my sincere congrats should it prove to be so.

Not often that we are able today to hold such a historic example of USA coinage in our hands .... hence the collecting pursuit.
