I thought "blast white" applied only to BU coins?

I think blast white is for uncirculated coins with lots of luster and no toning. This one is nice and clean, but I don't think it's considered blast white.

As for grade, the obverse is a little too bright to get a good idea of the wear, but I'd say in the EF45-AU50 range

There is obviously luster in the lettering, but the diamonds in the band of the crown are barely visible, so I have to agree with AU 50 or thereabouts.

I'm going to say au58 - ms62

I see no signs of wear, the jewels running in the centre of the crown appear as such on high ms examples.

I went to ebay to look for BU examples and found one (not stated as BU) with a strong die clash on reverse, possibly on obverse as well,,,

Not enough original lustre left for a grade above AU50.

Circulation evidence is obvious. This is barely AU and not a premium coin.

There is no wear on the reverse, the knot on the bow and the leaf nearest the 2 are subject to wear at a very early stage, there is no evidence of such wear on this coin.
This coin has been abused but I don't believe it circulated.

Beauty is in the eye ocfthe camera lens, perhaps it is the photograph which is producing such varied grades.

BTW I bought the die clash (yes with the gouge on the face) I linked earlier. Seller accepted a $15 offer.
