I'm out right now... I know this isn't going to be big of deal to anyone else, but if you read my introduction you might get an idea of why this has me flipping out. ( https://goccf.com/t/27225 ) So I'm looking through the MS63+ Roosevelt set I'm putting together and updating my little Whitman Checklist book when I notice that the stupid album has a slot for a 1991 Silver Proof... They didn't make a 1991 Silver Proof. I knew I shouldn't have bought this stupid album... I don't know why I didn't buy the Dansco... I knew I should have. Stupid "Official U.S. Mint" album... Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? The set is getting super close to being completed. I've only got 6 silvers, 10 clads, 15 proofs, and 8 silver proofs left... 9 if you count the 91... Maybe I could just buy an extra 91S clad and put it in there... but I'll know that isn't what it is so it's going to bug me. I'm really not keen on the idea of swapping the set into a Dansco album, but that's more appealing than having an extra 91S except for the act of actually doing the transferring. Anyone have any other ideas? Edited by SpringCypress 04/24/2008 11:37 pm

Sorry to hear about your album trouble. I'd be out too. If it were me, I would get the Dansco and moving everything over. Once everything was transferred, I'd set the old album on fire (somewhere safe, of course). Think about the satisfaction of having all the holes filled with the correct coins AND watching the old album go up in smoke. Just my Two Cents. Congrats on all the sets you've completed so far and good luck with the Roosies!

Have you considered contacting Whitman?

I doubt they would cover your "shipping & handling" to send it back and get a correct one, but that is alarming and disappointing.......I guess I'll check EVERYTHING I buy from here on out very carefully.

It could be a nice place to stick an error dime or other oddity. It's like a poorly-labeled bonus slot.

If Whitman has corrected their error, it may be possible to replace that page. I am not familiar with the Whitman layout, but it depends on where the bad hole lies. If it is on the last page, great; if not, then that means replacing the next page as well. (My Dansco Roosevelt has four pages; and the 1991 dates fall on the last page). Moving one or two pages of coins is better than a whole album!

Does you album have a slot for the 1996W(mint set only issue)? If not, stick one of those in there and relabel it

It falls on the 2nd to the last page.
It has a slot for the 1996W, so that's a no go.
It also has a bunch of bonus slots on the last page, but those are being used to hold the P Proofs from 1950 on, the 1982 P no mintmark, and one as yet undetermined variety.
I think I've decided to get another 1991 S clad proof for now and slap it in there until I can justify shelling out $20 for a Dansco album. I'm hoping I can find one in the used bin at a local shop in the $5 range.

Be creative, use a dremel tool to make one.
