I acquired this one peso amongst a bunch of foreign paper money, but I know nothing of this. Can someone fill me in on some information of this bill and why the overprint "VICTORY"? Is this similar to the American "HAWAII" overprint note?

These "Victory" notes were issued upon the liberation of the Philippines to replace the Japanese issues of the occupation during World War II.

The Victory Series of Philippine Pesos replaced all previously issued notes including the pre-war Commonwealth peso notes. When the Victory Series was issued all previous issues, Philippine government and Japanese Military notes, were declared invalid.

Interesting info, thank you! In the same lot of bills I also received a similar Philippine one peso note only this one has a red seal and is a series 1929. I will have to recheck but I may also have a Japanese note or two that you mentioned, but that may be for a post of its own. Thank you!
