I have searched for this one for a while. Does anyone have any thoughts on the origin? It is sized about 22-23mm & 0.8g., silver.

Thank you!

Well first thought is to openly ask, when did we start seeing the image of a conquistador with the same profile? So if this is a very old piece I'd imagine 1400's to 1500's.

But that is what classically modern people think of a conquistador looks like of course so any encrustation etc?

Interesting piece, though my first impression is that it is not genuine. I'm sure others here that know more about this type will be along soon to help out. Hopefully it's real.

Thank you for the replies :) I have spent hours looking for this! But maybe it is another fantasy type coin - I received it from the same UK dealer that I received the ancient Spain fantasy piece from. However, I have bought a lot from this dealer and have received many very nice and very legitimate pieces as well.

Another thought is maybe it is the front of a button... I hadn't considered that before.

@brummagem, this piece is unlike any other bracteat that I have seen. The tooling along the marginal V shapes on both the obv and rev is confusing too, although the marks on the rev seemingly were done with less skill than those on the obv. It may have been a button cover or badge or something at one point, but I believe that it has been "enhanced" more recently.
