So, my father was digging in the garden and found a coin. Tried looking it up myself with no luck at all. Can anyone help identify the coin? I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this, new here.
As far as my limited knowledge on Chinese coins ... looks like a cash coin ... one of the other members will definately be able to give you better info.
I'm researching as fast as I can, but I'm a novice so it takes a little longer.
It looks like a 1 Cash coin from the Quing Dynasty. Issued under the second ruler Kang Xi between 1662 and 1723. Minted at Linquing in the Shandong province. Obverse reads "K'ang-hsi T'ung-pao" Reverse Lin (in Chinese at right) and Lin (in Manchu at left.)
See KM #320.1, FD #2264, and Schjoth #1425. Coin #697 In David Jen's book Chinese Cash Identification and Price Guide. Both images were inverted.
Thank you all for your input and welcomes! Thanks Chute for the details! And nothing too special about me. I have a strong interest in anything that deals with history. That why my father asked me to look this coin up lol.
